Hopkins Cribs: Bradford #709
Now in my fourth year of Hopkins on-campus housing (two years as an underclassman, and two years as an RA), I really feel like I've moved up in the world. Granted, I started off pretty well....Wolman is among the best freshmen dorms I've *ever* seen (and I've been to a TON of schools, traveling for debate); then I lived in McCoy sophomore and junior years. Now, I'm across the street in Bradford, one of the two JHU-owned apartment buildings. Welcome to my crib!
I live in an efficiency, #709. Basically, that means I have a living room/bedroom/dining room in one big room, plus a small kitchen and my own bathroom (woo hoo!). I'll give you a tour:
This is my kitchen, which is what you see right when you walk in. I have a microwave, an oven, a stove, a sink, lots of cupboards.
I don't really cook a LOT, but I definitely have mastered the college staples: pizza and macaroni & cheese. I also like to bake sometimes; last night my friend Bruce & I made cookies and brownies for some of our friends, who were supposed to be coming down to stay overnight with us tonight (that's also why these shots of my room are semi-clean!).
To the right when you enter, you'll see my bathroom. It's great to have my own sink & space to leave my stuff...I think I've been spoiled that in college I've never had to share with more than three people.
The past two years, I've had my own bathroom, which is AMAZING. Even better this year? Having a bath tub. It just somehow seems more grown-up than just having a shower.
Now you've made it past the entry way area...to the "living room." Nah, who am I kidding? It's really just one big room. But on one end, I have a table & a futon that I scavenged from my residents last year (and where my visiting friends will be sleeping tonight) ...and on the other end is my "bedroom."
On my bed sits my stuffed dog, Annabelle...who is a constant object of affection from my visitors, for some reason. She used to be mistaken for a real dog all the time in airports.
The real "action spot" in my room, if you were to call it that, is probably my desk. I spend a TON of time there...first thing in the morning, I check my email, the news, (I'll admit it) Facebook....I spend a lot of time doing homework there (I usually try to avoid the library unless my procrastination has gotten to the extreme level).
I guess that's about it...some cool details in my room: my debate trophies on the top of my desk, my Halloween costume-turned-curtains, my peacock message holder on my desk.
Hope you enjoyed the tour!
The cookies were delicious, as was the 8 minute 30 second PMR.
