It's Just Another...
Manic Monday.
Well, rather it's Wednesday, but let me apologize: it's been far too long since my last post!
***HAPPY HALLOWEEN!*** by the way before I forget!
Unfortunately I've been ridiculously ill for the last couple of weeks, and thanks to my Biochem midterm I couldn't take any medicine! But now that I'm finally done with that, it's time for me to get well and rested!
Which is what has inspired my entry today. Here are some things to do and NOT to do while sick (in my illness I think I may have done EVERYTHING imaginably wrong, so learn from me!)
- Go to Health and Wellness and get yourself checked out by a professional. Really, take some work, sit down and don't wait until you're waking up in the middle of the night, unable to breathe, crying yourself to sleep.
- Get lots of rest. No, studying in the library until 2 in the morning the entire time you're sick won't do anything to make you better and you probably won't do so hot on your test anyway, regardless of how much you study, so just get better!
- Stay hydrated. I know it hurts to swallow and even comfort food (i.e. ice cream in my case) hurts but keep your body nourished. Soup = fantastic good times.
- Take lots of Vitamin C and B. Well, I say B because that's what they told me to take. And I'm normally not a huge vitamin person.
DON'T:
- Overexert yourself! If your body tells you it's tired, sleep. If that little voice on your shoulder says to slow down, do it. As Hopkins students we're all prone to pushing ourselves way past our limits, and yes I know I do it every time and this happens, but maybe someone will listen to me when I say it's okay to take a day off for your health. Goodness knows I should have.
I feel like there are a lot more "don't"s but I'm just going to feel like an idiot if I wrote out all the stupid things I've done in the last week or so. Tests make you crazy, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
But for now I'm going to go back to bed, have some one on one time with a bowl of soup, and hopefully there will be more fun adventures when I'm healthy again.

Any physician would get a ton of business if he set up shop next to Hopkins. It wouldn't be fair...

Sounds like a horrible couple weeks. Hope you're feeling better now and getting some rest.

Fluids, lots of fluids. It flushes out the system ... it works and I didn't have to go to school for 20+ years to know that.

Aw, I hope you feel better! If you're still sick this week, our orgo studying can be combined with grits and tea. Comfort food and a taste of home, all in one.

I think its great that you came to the meeting in a costume. And the Health and Wellness center is sweet, they gave me this wicked cool thermometer and some a cool goodie bag for being sick!

Sick is the worst. And I agree it is SOO easy for it to happen here--You don't sleep enough, you are running around like crazy...nutrition is often poor (ahh!)....
Anyway, being sick is awful!! Take your vitamins and drink Emergenc-E it works, I swear!!
