Don't fast forward through life: stretch everyday.
Lately, I haven't had any trouble conjuring up subjects for My Life is My Personal Movie. Paragraphs spill out as I provide simple summaries of my weekends. For some reason, my life has been turned inside out this year. My weeks are devoted to catching up on sleep and my weekends are packed with events for my various activities. I honestly cannot pinpoint my "study session" times. I feel as if they are pocketed in random hours of the day. (P.S. Dad, the school work does get done!)
My weekend in photogprahs:
As you know, I am pledging Delta Xi Phi this year (the multicultural sorority). Friday afternoon,
the Associate Members and I (the pledge class: IOTA LINE) got together and had a laid back multicultural event. We ordered Indian food from Tamber's Restaurant and watched Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. It was my first Hindi movie, and I am officially hooked. I hosted the movie night in my apartment's amazing theater, and I was definitely on the edge of my seat audibly speaking to the screen. I am already scheduled to go to another Hindi Movie Night next weekend.
Afterwards, I was upset because I had to complete my online Spanish homework (via WebCT). If there is one thing I have to complain about Hopkins and its Language program, it is the impersonal nature of its assignments. We write compositions and have small classes, but I miss the very personal nature of high school language classes. It may be because the students are not with a single instructor five days a week for that entire year.
On Saturday, I had crew practice as usual. Afterwards, I briefly
helped out @ the Ask a Student table for Open House. Although I only spoke with a couple of students, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing new faces. I had to quickly leave because IOTA LINE (DXP) was volunteering at the Baltimore Zoo for its Childrens' ZooBoo program. The zoo was packed with Hopkins' students volunteering (particularly Alpha Phi Omega, the co-ed
service fraternity). The rain dimmed the turn out, but it was nice seeing the community out and about. The girls and I proceeded to Giant to prepare for our baking festival. Around 4pm, my friend Carolyn and I (who I initially met through the HI Message Boards) went to Arundel Mills Outlet Mall to shop for over 5 hours. I came home with two
bags full of new clothes but NO Halloween costume. I am still discussing my options and Wednesday is around the corner! I ended the night with a movie (Two Weeks) with my boyfriend.
This morning, I woke up at 5:50am to get ready for the JHU Crew Regatta in Chestertown,
Maryland. It was at Washington College's boathouse. The race actually got canceled because the winds were at 15mph. However, we did an ergathon instead (a race on the erg). It was an intense match. The JHU Women's Four won first place (received medals), JHU Women's Eight finished fourth place, and
the JHU Men's Eight finished second
place. Afterwards, I went to the baking festival with the DXP girls. We baked apple pies, apple crumb cake, pumpkin cupcakes, and carmel apples. We used the amazing amenities at the Charles Commons Kitchen. They will be ON SALE at the BREEZEWAY on MONDAY or
TUESDAY. BTW: the Breezeway is the connecting stairway between the upper quad and the lower quad. Oh, and Henri (one of our many beloved mascots) was also with us baking.
I completely agree with you about Spanish and WebCt. It's so frustrating. Also, are those pictures from your apartment?? I love the zebra decor.
