Pink & Blue.

Img_5237 This past week was filled to the brim.  I must say, returning to myImg_5236 apartment past 10pm every evening after a string of meetings is quite tiring.  I have realized that taking 18-credits of Social Science courses claims a large portion of the week, but it makes the week swiftly pass by (and I thoroughly enjoy the learning this semester on this new schedule -- please read JHU_Esther's blog for why she doesn't support this new schedule because it's pretty awesome).

Despite the busyness, the end of the week was obviously decorated in pink hearts (as it was Valentine's Day).  On Thursday night, I went to a Women's Bible Study at UBC, and we had our girls' underwear exchange. Besides the silliness of the exchange, shopping for Beth's underwear made me an avid Img_5238supporter of Victoria's Secret (it really is that good).

Anyway, afterwards, there was a delicious "enchilada dinner".  Emily (who got into the Hopkins School of Nursing as a sophomore last year) is an Img_5269amazing cook!  Around 9pm though, Gilberto surprised me with a very romantic set-up in my apartment. I had no idea we were going to do anything because we had tickets to go see the Blue Man Group at the 1st Mariner Arena (which is where Obama spoke last week) on Friday.  But, lo and behold, with a box of a dozen long-stemmed roses, fondue, take-out from Tamber's Restaurant, Becoming Jane, a pug that sings, and "I love you" written out on the floor with Hershey's kisses, I basically melted in the candlelight.  Oh, and I also got flowers from my Dad!  It was basically the textbook V-day (& I  absolutely loved it).

Img_5354 As briefly mentioned above, we went to the Blue Man Group theImg_5363_2 following night.  The show was fantastic!  We were on the ground level in the 11th row (which made the show even more amazing).  The Arena was packed with all sorts of people (young to old).  My roommate warned me that the
show would be weird and wonderful simultaneously, and I must say that she was right on point.

The music was actually really soothing (although it was really loud), and I missed jumping up and down.  It reminded me of the mosh-pit at the Hoobastank concert I went to a couple of summers ago.   It was nice to Img_5367immerse in a different environment in the middle of a busy academic season.

Speaking of academics, my classes are really fascinating.  I love how the material I am learning in one class nicely weaves in with another class.  It has really woven my different interests together, and I am really grateful for my peers who share their thoughts and really challenge me to think deeper and often times from a different perspective.   I finally feel like I've found my nest in the world of academia.  I can already feel the pressure, but it's been good to go through it with a support group (friends & family).

On Saturday and Sunday, I went up to Delaware and spent the weekend with Gilberto's family.  It's really nice to get away from campus and to go to the suburban movie theater like old times.  Other than that, I am back at Hopkins and ready to dig my  fingernails into this busy week!

Enjoy the videos from the show!  I am assuming it is not a problem to post this since they didn't confiscate my camera before I walked into the arena.

I abolsutely LOVE Blue Man Group. I saw the orginal BMG 16 years ago when they were just starting out in a small theatre in the Village in NYC. I actually saw them 4x between a two year period at the end of high school because my friends and I just wanted to keep going back.

I looooove Tamber's! I eat food from there at least once a week. Seriously.

I pretty much want to eat that fruit/whipped cream setup in the top photo. The "fondue as a Valentines Day gift" was an inspired idea.
